Fallen by Lauren Kate – My Review

Back Story:

So I had been kinda stubborn about reading this series, and not for the reasons you think.
I had seen this book during Christmas shopping season at a Target back in 09. My mom and I have this cool thing were we like to read books and compare our thoughts and this was a book she was interested in but I was already reading the Vampire Diaries and the Hunger Games so i declined.

I find myself reading this now because I learned that they made a movie about it and well I want to see it and before I see It i wanted to read it because honestly the book version of any story has more in depth look then a movie would.

Book Synopsis:

There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, Fallen is a page turning thriller and the ultimate love story.

My Review:

Okay so where should I start? When I started reading this I found Luce to be a bit of a mystery. This is because this girl has such a dark past, especially because of how her family treats her and the whole she see shadows bit.

Another cool factor is the glimpses of time you see in the text, there is so much history in this story that I gasp at how well written it is. You get to see how evolved these characters are and it leaves you wanting more by the end.

I really liked Sword & Cross, the pool inside the church is just hilarious. It set the “dark” vibe that the book/story needed.

In the beginning I really liked Cam, because he was very open/affectionate towards Luce but we all know that Daniel is whom she feels very attracted to even if she doesn’t understand why. I later regret being so gullible¬†and letting Cam blind me with his open friendly self. Now Daniel, he’s is just such a great character, he’s just the right amount of “cold shoulder/mysterious” that makes you want to find out more about him. His passionate response to our main character makes him really likable and hot ūüėČ . Another character I really liked was Penn, she was a great supporting character and really helped Luce find out about Daniel’s past.

Overall the book did deliver what I expected and more. I finished it and quickly moved on to the next one which I will also write a review on. This book gets a 4 out of 5 and I do recommend it if you like a supernatural romance novel.

Till next time!

Flashback Friday

As I sit here writing this and gobbling up some yummy papaya I thought of what gave me my love for reading. I remember it being sometime during elementary school, probably around 3rd & 4th grade. One of the first books I really enjoyed and made me want to read more was the Little House on the Prairie Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Although the series does not begin with that book it was the first one that I read that got me hooked.

Along the way I started to read them all the way up to 6th grade and I also became obsessed with buying books from the scholastic magazine my teacher would give out. During Middle School I started to check more books out from the library and that was when the¬†Twilight¬†phenomenon started and I was a bit hesitant to reading it. All my friends had read it and they hyped it up so much that I said to myself it can’t be that good, but yeah it was in my humble opinion. From there on I started reading books like¬†Go Ask Alice,¬†Ender’s Game¬†and¬†Perfect Chemistry, you get the picture.

I think I’ve read dozens of good books and dozen of books that could have been better, moral of this story is I wanted to give you a brief history of how I became a book lover! Next Friday I will dive into a flashback review,¬†till next time ūüôā !

New YA Books I Can’t Wait To Read in 2017

As I sink back into the wonderful world of literature I have found some wonderful YA books that are coming out this year! Adding these on top of the list of books I plan to read/re-read I have found the following books, which I am highly anticipating in no particular order.

Shimmer and Burn

I usually will pick books based on how cool the cover looks, which I know is totally against the saying. But this books sounds really interesting with¬†the mix of magic that Faris needs to smuggle in to save her sister, I can’t wait to get my hands on this novel!

Royal Bastards

This books sounds so amazingly promising and I have a soft spot of royal/heir books and even though the book centers around the royal’s bastards children it sounds freaking cool! With the war brewing and the princess sitting at their table, this story and it journey to the king will be something I can’t wait to get my hands on!

The Edge of Everything

I personally don’t think I’ve ever read a book with about a bounty hunter and I am findling myself with this need to know all about X and the Lowlands!

The Upside of Unrequited

This story sounds so cute and just the YA romance novel that I need to read this year! ¬†Many lessons for my senior year in high school come flashing back about Shakespeare¬†and all about unrequited love. Molly sounds like the typical girl who is aftered of not being loved for who she is and I can’t wait to read all about her journey!

By Your Side

I am sooo looking forward to this one!!
Stuck in the library + dark mysterious boy = lovely mess!

Blood Rose Rebellion

Being throw away because of the things she could do and then finding out she has a great power inside is just the beginning of this novel. Super excited for this one!

The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett

This sounds like a combination of Nancy Drew meets Sherlock Holmes which is genius, can’t wait for this! Will¬†Hawthorn’s sleuthing get us anywhere near the truth behind Lizzie’s disappearance?

One of Us is Lying

This right of the bat gave me Clue chills! I love a good mystery and having to figure who did it will be such a fun and exciting game!

Once and For All

I have been a huge fan of Sarah Dessen and can’t wait for this new addition to her many wonderful novels!

Carve the Mark

From the author who brought us the Hunger Games, which were BOMB, comes a story just as intriguing, honestly can’t wait!

Oh Phantom of the Opera how I love thee! This story sounds so fabulous I can’t hardly wait!

The Gentleman’s Guide to ¬†Vice and Virtue

This caught my attention, partly because the cover is cool looking, but because it sounds like such a wild rollercoaster!!

Flame In The Mist

This story not only sounds super suspenseful but the whole “going undercover” bit is just such a red flag for me to read!

A tale of a girl trying to save her sister from the enemy and being interwoven by the “Carnival” before it’s too late and her sister is gone forever, sounds pretty good to me!
